FAQs

Below you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about pelvic floor physical therapy and Welcome’s approach to providing care. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly.

  • Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized form of rehabilitation that focuses on the muscles, ligaments, and tissues of the pelvic floor. These muscles support vital organs such as the bladder, uterus, and rectum. Pelvic floor physical therapy can address a variety of issues, including urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and recovery after childbirth or surgery. The goal is to restore normal function, alleviate symptoms, and improve your quality of life.

  • We choose not to accept insurance in order to provide you with a more personalized experience that is not dictated by an insurance company. Insurance often limits the number of sessions, influences the type of treatment provided, and can interfere with the level of attention you receive. By not participating in insurance networks, we can focus on offering the highest-quality one-on-one care without restrictions, so you receive the exact treatment you need at your own pace.

  • While we do not bill insurance directly, we can provide a detailed receipt (Superbill) upon request. This receipt includes all necessary information, such as diagnostic codes and treatment details, so that you can submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have out-of-network benefits. We do not guarantee reimbursement for services.

  • You can receive up to 12 visits or 45 days of physical therapy without a referral. After this time, if further treatment is necessary, a referral from a physician, midwife, nurse practitioner, or chiropractor is required for additional sessions per California law.

  • For your comfort and ease, we recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. You may be asked to undress from the waist down during certain assessments or treatments, but you will always be draped with a sheet for privacy. We will ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout your session.

  • Medicare does not allow patients to pay cash rates for services that are covered under Medicare. Once a patient is enrolled in Medicare, the program is considered the primary payer, and Medicare sets the rates for covered services. We do offer coaching and wellness visits, but cannot offer physical therapy services for those with Medicare. Please contact us with any specific questions at hello@welcomept.com.

  • Appointments must be cancelled 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time or you are subject to the full cost of the appointment.

  • Yes! It would be great to have a stroller or carseat available for when you are participating in certain parts of the exam or treatment.

  • Feel free to call us at (323) 205-5663 or email us at hello@welcomept.com. We're here to answer any questions and guide you through the process of starting pelvic floor physical therapy.
